Hit-Run Seriously Injures Young Long Island Man: Police

A Long Island man was walking in the early hours of the morning when a driver hit him and fled the scene, leaving him with serious injuries, police said.

A 24-year-old Huntington man was seriously injured while walking on Park Avenue on the morning of Thursday, May 4, according to police.

On Thursday, May 4 at around 5 a.m., 24-year-old William Thomas was walking northbound in the roadway of Park Avenue in Greenlawn, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Thomas, a resident of Huntington, was near Hofstra Drive when a vehicle struck him and drove away.

He was reportedly taken to Huntington Hospital by Greenlawn Rescue for treatment of his serious injuries.

Officers are asking that anyone with information about the crash call either Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
